2021 FEDERAL INCOME TAX DUE DATES

The IRS filing deadlines are as follows for 2020 returns:

PASS-THROUGH ENTITIES – S-CORPORATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS (FORMS 1120S/1065)

Due Date: March 15, 2021
Extension Date: September 15, 2021

NOTE: The above dates are based on the calendar year tax filing.  If your tax year end is not 12/31, then the deadlines are as follows:

Pass-Through Entities – 15th day of the 3rd month after year end.

CORPORATIONS – C-CORPORATIONS (FORMS 1120)

Due Date: April 15, 2021 
Extension Date: October 15, 2021 

NOTE: The above dates are based on the calendar year tax filing.  If your tax year end is not 12/31, then the deadlines are as follows:

C-Corporations – 15th day of the 4th month after year end, Extended 90 days.

INDIVIDUALS – PERSONAL (FORMS 1040 / SCH. C) 

Due Date: April 15, 2021 
Extension Date: October 15, 2021 

Exempt Organization Return (FORMS 990, 990-EZ, 990-PF)

Due Date: May 17, 2021 
Extension Date: November 15, 2021 

Note: For not year end organizations form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-PF must be filed by the 15th day of the 5th month after the end of your organization’s accounting period.

Use Form 8868 PDF to request an automatic 6-month extension of time to file Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-PF. For more information, see Form 8868 and its instructions. Form 990-N due date cannot be extended, but there is no penalty for submitting it late unless it’s the third (and only) year.
